Money OUT of Politics

The Oregon Area Progressives are concerned about the powerful impact of big money in politics, which damages democracy and silences everyday voices. Wealthy donors and groups such as Elon Musk, the American Legislative Exchange Council, and Americans for Prosperity use their contributions to influence politicians and promote their own agendas, disregarding the public's needs. This leads to a scenario where the money of a few carries more weight than the votes of many.

    WDC tracks money in Wisconsin politics in their unique public database. They write about issues of money and politics and advocate for campaign finance reform and other policies that will make real the promise of democracy.

    Wisconsin United to Amend

    Wisconsin United To Amend (WIUTA) is a cross-partisan state network of concerned citizens dedicated to restoring our representative democracy, by minimizing the corruptive influence that money has on our political process. WIUTA seeks to overturn Citizens United and related Supreme Court decisions so we may reclaim the liberties and privileges guaranteed in the U.S. Constitution for real people.

    Formed in September 2009, Move to Amend is a coalition of hundreds of organizations and hundreds of thousands of individuals committed to social, environmental and economic justice, ending corporate rule, and building a vibrant democracy that is genuinely accountable to the people, not corporate interests.

    Move to Amend is calling for the #WeThePeopleAmendment to the US Constitution that unequivocally states that inalienable rights belong to human beings only, and that money is not a form of protected free speech under the First Amendment and can be regulated in political campaigns.
